COVID-19 is a new infections disease discovered in December 2019 in Wuhan, China. was named 2019-nCoV by the WHO (World Health Organization).
Coronavirus were first discovered in the late 1960s. and the other members of this family including SARS-Cov (2003), HCoV NL63 (2004), HKU1 (2005), MERS-CoV (2012), and the last member is SARS CoV-2 (known as 2019-nCov) (2019).
but the last one have resulted in serious respiratory tract infection.
With less information based on clinical expertise, the scientists and doctors don't know a lot about Corona. correspond to WHO, it seems that around 80% of people infected have moderate or mild illness, 15% have serious illness, and 5% of them have respiratory failure.
People who are might be at higher risk for coronavirus :
- Older adults (The elderly): Adults people aged over 65 years and people who have serious health conditions are at higher risk for COVID-19, as stated by WHO. and the CDC recommends that older people should stay away from the crowds.
- Pregnant women: Currently, with less information, we do not know if pregnant women have a risk to be infected but the pregnant women undergo changes in their bodies may increase their risk of the infections of COVID-19. They should be monitored and protected since they are known to be at risk from the coronavirus (COVID-19).
- People with serious health conditions: People with chronic health condition like :
- Moderate to severe asthma
- Serious heart conditions (High blood pressure for example)
- Cancer
- Obesity
- Diabetes (9% people with diabetes infected with coronavirus died)
- Renal failure
Everyone in danger: People can pass the virus through contact between them and other who are more at risk that's why it's obligatory to "STAY HOME" for minimizing the infection and slow it.
